Fractured Minds Launches to Raise Support for Mental Health Awareness
Fractured Minds launches on all platforms with 80% of proceeds to be split between the developer and Safe In Our World Charity.
After winning a BAFTA YGD, Game developer Emily Mitchell found her game Fractured Minds being supported and published by Wired Productions. The game launched today on all platforms with 80% of proceeds being split between Emily and a new charity, Safe In Our World.
Fractured Minds is a game that was created by Emily Mitchell who started developing the title at 17-years-old. It follows a story based on her personal experience with severe anxiety and looks to offer a greater understanding of living with severe anxiety. It also aims to stand in solidarity with those around the world who suffer from mental health.
It takes players through atmospheric chapters, each one bringing a different aspect or challenge to overcome with themes ranging from isolation to anxiety. The launch trailer shows off a first-person perspective as the player goes through some colorful, and some dark levels each showing different types of situations to navigate through.
“I created Fractured Minds to help those who suffer from anxiety and other mental health issues feel they’re not alone” – Emily Mitchell
The charity Safe In Our World looks to raise awareness of mental health issues among gamers and creators and looks to spark a positive change in the industry. The charity is supported by numerous partners such as Wired Productions, Microsoft, Curve Digital and more, alongside a range of ambassadors, trustees, and patrons.
The charity’s mission is to “create a digital destination where sufferers can seek help, gain access to resources and information, and discover stories from real people within and surrounding the games industry.” Gina Jackson, a trustee for the charity mentions “Fractured Minds shows how great talent can develop incredible experiences that can change how we all feel and identify with mental health, which creates debate, empathy and allows us to walk in the shoes of others.”
Fractured Minds is $1.99 and available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
