Free Dragon Quest PS4 Theme to Celebrate 30th Anniversary Released by Square Enix

Today is Dragon Quest‘s 30th anniversary, as the first game was released on May 27th, 1986 in Japan. To celebrate, Square Enix released a free PS4 theme on the Japanese PSN.

The theme can be found here, and it’s static, featuring a celebratory golden screen on the bottom screen and Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End, on the top screen.

While it lacks custom music, it does come with a few custom sounds that fans might recognize. As usual, you need a Japanese PSN account to download and install it, but once installed, it will work with any account as long as the PS4 is set to primary.

Below you can check out a couple of screenshots and a video that will let you hear the custom sounds.

RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
