After the series received near universal condemnation for Command and Conquer 4 though, would it be a crime to take some cues from the world's most popular RTS title? Probably not. One thing fans will notice right off the bat is that there are now constructor units running around your base as well as harvesters. Much like an SCV, you can blow them up to stop construction. There will also be a new resource, oil, which is collected by buildings. Definitely sounds familiar...

The good news of course is that base building is making a triumphant return and mobile base walkers are nowhere to be seen. The three factions from Command and Conquer 3 are back and at it again, though there's no word on Kane, it just wouldn't be a true C&C title without him popping up somewhere down the line. If the writers can fix the plot holes from Tiberian Sun to make Command and Conquer 3 work so well, it's possible to save the series.

One major new feature that will set this game apart is that units are controlled in squads rather than individuals. This is not necessarily a bad thing though when you look at other RTS titles such as Company of Heroes. While the game is still in an early Alpha and subject to change, it looks promising. Check out this video of fans playing it at a recent EA summit.
