Yesterday we brought you the news that 343 Industries were bringing a free-to-play Halo game to the Russian market with Halo Online.

The game, which runs on modified Halo 3 code that has been optimized for low-end hardware, will be releasing exclusively in Russia and is currently going through a closed beta testing period.

There's no word on a release for the rest of the world, but it doesn't seem likely that Microsoft and 343 would want to be in direct competition with their own release of Halo 5: Guardians later this year. Still, never say never...

Check out the trailer embedded below, it actually looks pretty wicked and shows off some customization options along with some classic Halo gameplay. What's strange is that the menus seem to be in English, giving us non-Russian speakers some insight into what the game will include.

We can already see from the trailer that the free-to-play model will be focused around the purchasing of different cosmetic items as well as the renting of weapons for different time periods, ranging from 30 minutes, 6 hours and 24 hours.
