The latest and most uncertain frontier for gaming is most certainly mobile. With developers from small indie studios fighting for market space next to larger companies a recent announcement Fresvii will be helping give the little guy a leg up.
They have announced the beta release of the Fresvii Gaming Cloud, a mobile game backend service designed to help indie mobile game developers leverage powerful network infrastructure without having to design or maintain their own servers.
The cloud enables developers to create sophisticated mobile games by supplying, for free, a host of services common to games. These services include user authentication to social network integration, from push notifications to community management, and 3D avatar creation.
The Fresvii SDK currently supports Unity, iOS, and soon Android.
