Three years, 2,571 backers, $72,107 raised, and one successful Kickstarter later, Frog Fractions 2 -- the sequel to the 2012 cult hit phenomena flash game Frog Fractions -- is out in the wild and ready for you to dive into its glory.  More specifically, it has been discovered within another game that launched onto PC via steam back on December with the name Glittermitten Grove.

As you many know, since the game's successful Kickstatrer campaign, designer James Crawford has run an elaborate ARG that involved countless other games, and even some physical clues, that have gradually led gamers to finding the final game. It got so out of control, that any slightly odd game would be hit with a wave of "is this Frog Fractions 2?" Some people even suspected that the ARG itself was actually Frog Fractions 2. Nobody could know what was Frog Fractions 2 was, where it would appear, when it would appear, or whether or not anyone would recognize it when it did.

After all, when the game's Kickstarter launched, Crawford explained that the first game was made to "explicitly evoke the air of mystery that all video games held in the 1980s," and to keep that mystery Crawford said he would not announce the game's release, nor offer any sneak previews prior to launch. He even went on to say it wouldn't even be called Frog Fractions 2.

But as mentioned above, the 21st century's greatest mystery has come to an end, Frog Fractions has been discovered in Glittermitten Grove, a side-scrolling, Minecraft-esq game, which is its own game, but also includes multiple doorways that lead to Frog Fractions 2.

As for Frog Fractions 2 itself, it's much different than its predecessor. In fear of spoiling the game too much, I will only say, like the first game, it contains hundreds of hidden layers for players to discover.

In an interview with Waypoint, which you should check for a detailed journey of the game's development, Crawford said Frog Fractions 2 was originally slated to release sometime in August 2015, but had to get pushed back. Luckily -- for the good of the world -- publisher Adult Swim Games stepped in and provided an injection of cash to keep the game going and the ARG that surrounded it.
