Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition is More Than Just a Mouthful (It Also Includes a Contra Mode)

Wow. Frogger sure has come a long way since 1981. Remember when the snakes and alligators were hardly discernable from one another in those old arcade cabinets? Well, your favorite game about a frog crossing a busy street is getting yet another 21st-Century makeover in the upcoming Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare.

Of course, this wouldn’t be new-school if it weren’t also available for your iOS device. To add a bit more kick to the whole don’t-squash-your-frog action, Konami’s spicing things up by including a few different skins for the adventure including Contra-inspired themes and a few 8-bit Castlevania throwbacks. Don’t believe me? Check out the gallery after the jump. No word yet on a release date, but we’ll keep you posted.

And you didn’t think there was anything else they could do with Frogger …
