With just a few hours to go, Cephalofair Games' Frosthaven has officially surpassed Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 as the most-funded game on Kickstarter. We obviously don't have the final campaign numbers, but so far, the game has raised $12, 553,492, putting it above Kingdom Death by a few hundred thousand dollars. It's an incredible achievement for what looks to be an incredible game.

Frosthaven is the big box sequel to Board Game Geek's top-rated game of all time Gloomhaven. The game mixes intelligent card-based combat with a gripping story and intriguing legacy-style elements. If you haven't tried out Gloomhaven yet, you really should. Either that or wait for Frosthaven and hop on that train. I've played 100s of board games and Gloomhaven stands as easily the best game I've ever played. Frosthaven looks like it will only improve the formula. I can't wait.

It's pretty incredible that, in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, Frosthaven was able to sell this well. That's not a knock on Cephalofair releasing the campaign during the coronavirus crisis, it just makes the campaign that much more impressive. Also, when you consider that they put in a funding tier at the $1 level to let you essentially put the game on layaway for when funds become less tight, you have to be even more impressed. That level has nearly 13,00 backers. If even half of those turn into sales down the line, that's almost another million. It's wild.

Frosthaven is live on Kickstarter now. That said, the campaign is only available for two more hours at the time of this writing, so be sure to get over there quickly. For full disclosure, I am a Kickstarter backer. After the ordeal that was getting Gloomhaven at retail, I wasn't about to try that again.
