Originally released in 2018, 11 bit studios' Frostpunk drew acclaim for its emphasis on players having to make tough choices in an incredibly tough environment. Since then, the studio has been expanding on its survival city management sim with new content and expansions, with one more expansion to arrive this summer alongside an entirely different interpretation of the game for tabletop players.

During the first part of the Guerrilla Collective showcase, publisher 11 bit Studios shared new bits of information on Frostpunk's third and final expansion, On the Edge. During the showcase, 11 bit shared a new trailer for the upcoming expansion and revealed that On the Edge will be releasing later this summer, bringing the game's run of post-launch expansion content to a close. No specific release date or window was announced just yet, but we can expect the final expansion to launch within the next few months.

Alongside the news for the game's third and final expansion, 11 bit Studios also announced that the game will also be getting an official tabletop adaptation called Frostpunk: The Board Game. The tabletop game will be created by Glass Cannon Unplugged, which includes the team that made the board game adaptation of the studio's acclaimed survival game, This War of Mine. Much like the original game, the board game adaptation will provide players with "tough moral choices, challenging and strategic gameplay, emotion-driven narrative," and "lots of snow" to bring the Frostpunk experience to a tabletop format.

According to 11 bit and Glass Cannon, the board game adaptation will launch a Kickstarter campaign this fall, with the game expected to officially launch sometime next year. You can check out the official teaser video for it below:

Frostpunk is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while the upcoming tabletop adaptation is expected to launch in 2021.
