As a mix of city-building and management with survival in a post-apocalyptic setting, 11 bit studios’ Frostpunk is a title that will definitely ask a lot from players, and it seems like many players have been up to the task according to the game’s initial sales numbers.
Developer 11 bit studios shared today that since its launch earlier this week, Frostpunk has already reached over 250,000 copies sold on PC within a span of 66 hours. As a result of the game’s great head start in sales, the studio also confirmed from CEO Grzegorz Miechowski that it will be “100% sure” that its previously-planned expansions and post-release content will be happening, including “many free updates.”
Specifically, 11 bit studios provided a Steam Community update that the studio plans to “polish some rough edges” with its recent release, but will plan to provide new content down the line, such as additional modes and scenarios, and most likely a “sandbox/endless mode” that will let players continue to grow their society and cities.
Frostpunk is available now on PC, and according to our interview with 11 bit studios’ Karol Zajaczkowski, it could potentially arrive down the line for consoles as soon as later this year. For more on the game, you can also check out our preview of the game from PAX East.
