Since its debut over five years ago, Steam Early Access has let players pay for and try out thousands of games big and small before their official launch. Next month, Iceberg Interactive and Interactive Fate plan to add their FTL-inspired sci-fi roguelike Shortest Trip to Earth to that extensive service on October 9.
The developers over at Interactive Fate have actually been working on Shortest Trip to Earth for over four years, so the game’s Early Access release actually marks the beginning of the end for the game’s elongated development. During its stint in Early Access, the developers plan on polishing up Shortest Trip to Earth’s rougher edges, as well as modify things based on player feedback. The game’s launch will also mark a price increase.
Shortest Trip to Earth’s Steam page also reveals that the game is planned to remain in Early Access until at least January 2019. This early version of the game includes five of the ten planned levels, though more content will be added before the official launch. For those unaware, this game has players exploring procedurally generated galaxies while attempting to upgrade their ship and survive real-time battles.
Below, you can check out the most recent trailer for the game alongside some new screenshots. Shortest Trip to Earth will hit PC via Steam Early Access on October 9, and the developers have plans to keep it there until January 2019 at the earliest.
