There is something extremely important taking place right now. Protests against police brutality, demanding justice for the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police, have spread across the world. Yesterday, Dualshockers joined numerous media outlets in holding off on posting for a day in order to make room for more important news and voices that must be heard right now. In order to continue leaving space for important voices at this time, PC Gamer and Future have both opted to delay their respective gaming shows from their former date of June 6 to the following Saturday, June 13.Announcements that the shows would be postponed came around the same time tonight. The delay for the Future Games Show was announced through a post on GamesRadar+, one of Future's brands. The post states explicitly that the delay is "in support of the protests demanding justice and change over the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police." Content Director of Games and Film at GamesRadar+, Daniel Dawkins, was quoted in the post as saying "While we're all excited to bring you our first Future Games Show, we feel it's important to leave space for more important conversations right now."

Similarly, PC Gamer announced its own show's delay on Twitter, also citing the need to make space "for those speaking out and demonstrating about how to end the systemic oppression and police brutality experienced by black people."

This all highlights an extremely important responsibility that those of us in games media have: knowing when to step back. At the end of the day, GamesRadar+, PC Gamer and even us here at DualShockers write about video games. Our writing is not essential, and if we have to step back and clear the "airwaves" so important topics with real-life implications can be discussed without any background noise, it's our responsibility to do so.
