G4 is Against All Odds Making a Return in 2021

G4 is coming back and it better bring X-Play and Attack of the Show with it.

If you’re in your mid-20s like me and have long been into video games and pop culture, there’s a good chance you used to watch G4 TV on cable television. Prior to the advent of all content seemingly being streamed online or being uploaded to YouTube, G4 was your one-stop-shop for all things “nerd culture.” And now, somehow, it’s coming back.

After slowing falling apart before eventually meeting its demise as a whole in 2014, G4 is set to make a return next year. Many of the former social media accounts associated with G4, including those for shows like X-Play and Attack of the Show, tweeted a teaser video this afternoon that announced the brand is returning in 2021. As of now, it’s uncertain what form this new iteration of G4 will take, as the prospect of returning as a television channel at this point in time seems unlikely.

The teaser video itself, which you can find in the tweet below, was filled with various easter eggs related to old bits or shows that used to air on G4. The video ends with the message, “We never stopped playing.” It concludes as a date of 2021 appears.

While there are more questions than answers right now when it comes to this G4 relaunch, it does seem as though many of the old hosts associated with the channel could somehow be involved. Former Attack of the Show hosts Kevin Periera and Olivia Munn shared the announcement on social media this afternoon, with Pereira specifically hyping it up quite a bit. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb, the hosts of X-Play, also shared the announcement as well.

It remains to be seen just how G4 will be rebuilt or who will be joining in. Even though many of the aforementioned hosts have shared the new teaser video, lots of them have since moved on to bigger and better things. That said, given that the X-Play and Attack of the Show accounts are active once again, it leads me to believe that those shows specifically could be revived as well.

All I know is that whenever this relaunch occurs, I’ll be there watching on day one purely because my nostalgia demands it. The immature, 14-year-old version of myself is very happy.
