Gabranth Joins Dissidia Final Fantasy NT This October
For the occasion, Akio Otsuka shared his thoughts on voicing Final Fantasy XII's antagonist again for the first time in years.
As previously announced, Square Enix revealed through a live stream on September 24 a new character for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. This character turned out to be Gabranth, Final Fantasy XII‘s antagonist. A trailer introducing the character was published as usual.
Gabranth will be added on September 26 in the arcade version, which is only relevant info if you live in Japan, and on October 10 on the PC and PS4 versions of Dissidia NT. Gabranth’s costumes include both his usual appearance donning his Imperial Judge armor and how he looks like when removing it.
For the occasion, during the stream, Square Enix also published a video message from Gabranth’s seiyuu Akio Otsuka. He mentioned how he had already voiced Gabranth for the very first Dissidia game on PSP, and it’s been over ten years since he last voiced him. However, it’s a role which left him with a big impression, so he remembers it well.
To be honest, I don’t know much about Gabranth as I pretty much never played any main Final Fantasy game after Final Fantasy 10. I still know about it him and FF12 to a certain extent though. Knowledge on a game as big as FF12 ends up naturally coming to you as game otaku culture one way or another.
Recently, DualShockers spoke with Director Takeo Kujiraoka about the future of the Dissidia franchise. Before Gabranth, Final Fantasy 7‘s Tifa was the latest character who joined Dissidia NT. Final Fantasy 7 Remake also got a pretty nice gameplay video at Tokyo Game Show 2019, where Kitase explained systems like summons and classic mode.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now on PS4 and PC. You can also try the free-to-play version of the game on all of the previously mentioned platforms.
