According to his Japanese office's agent, Gackt was in Cyprus Island from a certain time for work, till August 6. Soon after going back home (Gackt primarily lives in Malaysia), he felt particularly sick, with his condition gradually worsening.

"Gackt was in a life-threatening situation due to a nervous system disease he had since his youth. He was in bad shape for several weeks and lost about 10 Kg. Now, his condition is stable," the office reported.

Besides this nervous system-related chronic illness, Gackt also has Dysphonia, a neurological voice disorder that affects the voice muscles in the larynx, causing them to spasm. Gackt was currently filming for the movie Tonde Saitama 2, where he co-stars with Fumi Nikaido. The movie's distributor, Toei, stated it's waiting for Gackt's recovery and will keep shooting then, rather than replacing him.
