American McGee Announces Proposal Plans For Alice 3
American McGee shares he is working on a proposal for a new game, Alice: Asylum.
Some of you may or may not be familiar with who American McGee is, but if you are, you know he created American McGee’s Alice the game. The game wasn’t perfect but still received high praises across the board. Alice (2000) and Alice: Madness Returns (2011) were released some time ago and since 2011, and fans have wondered when Alice 3 news will surface.
Alice is a third-person psychological action-adventure game and was released back in October of the year 2000. Originally released on PS3, Xbox 360 and then following that December to PC. Why is it a psychological action-adventure? Well, Alice in Wonderland the story itself, most certainly had some dark undertones and we catch a glimpse of the insanity in Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland books.
American McGee saw an opportunity and poured his talents into Alice the game. Published with Rogue Entertainment and big name Electronic Arts, Alice made its first debut. Players control Alice as she battles her way through a hallucinatory asylum a.k.a Wonderland, due to a traumatic childhood experience. She loses her mind. By the end of the game, she conquers her insanity and is released from a real-world asylum. Sounds creepy and fun? Yes and yes.
Fast forward from 2000 to 2011, Alice: Madness Returns brought the second chapter to the cult classic series. After being released from the asylum, players start out with Alice wandering the streets of London, still under a hallucination spell. Long story short, having played Alice: Madness Returns there was certainly something missing, was it the insanity meter or was Alice not nearly as crazy as she could’ve been?
Present day, this burning question still lingers in the minds of fans. Enter American McGee, over the last few years, he has deflected and squashed any rumors of a third Alice game, until today.
McGee twitted earlier today that he is working on a proposal for EA for Alice. According to his website, he seems gung-ho and even included plans for the third installment.
Alice: Asylum, a fitting title. McGee mentions in a blog post, “This proposal will include artwork, design outline, and financial/business model.” He then includes, once all of these items are met, the proposal will be sent to EA.
