At a Sony Screen Gems panel at San Diego Comic Con, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman and Sam Raimi (original Spider-Man trilogy, Evil Dead) discussed The Last of Us movie for the first time in public. According to Druckman, he was shown two versions of a script -- the second version, which was Raimi's -- "really got it."

While casting hasn't officially begun yet, they've been in talks with Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, to star as Ellie. Later they were asked whether Bruce Campbell would be in the movie, Raimi said they will “find some place for Bruce."

Druckman will picking the director, and he doesn’t want the film to be a "poor imitation of the game." Druckman also stated that he wants whatever actor that plays Joel to interpret the character in his own way, since it's such a strong role.

Even though the movie "won't come out for years," Raimi said they wanted to announce it at Comic Con.
