Yves Guillemot, chairman of Ubisoft, confirmed during Sony’s PlayStation conference at Gamescom that Ubisoft is working alongside Sony Pictures Entertainment to produce a film adaptation of their upcoming open-world game, Watch_Dogs. Sony Pictures Entertainment has produced notable films such as the Sam Raimi Spider-Man franchise, the The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, the Daniel Craig James Bond films, and many others. Watch_Dogs is the next major franchise of Ubisoft’s to have a confirmed film adaptation after Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Raving Rabbids, and Splinter Cell.

Rumors about the possible film have persisted since last year, and Ubisoft recently polled fans on Facebook as to whom they think would be a good choice actor to portray Aiden Pierce in the film. In that poll, Tom Cruise led by a sizable margin over his opponents.
