Future, a global multi-platform media company behind brands such as PC Gamer, Kotaku, Xbox The Official Magazine, PlayStation Official Magazine UK, and more has announced that UK magazines GamesTM and GamesMaster are being axed.GamesTM has been running since 2002 and was originally owned by Imagine Publishing before Future acquired the entire Imagine portfolio. GamesMaster has been running for 25 years since 1993 when the first issue was published. As reported by Gamesindustry.biz the two magazines will be publishing their final issues and current staff are to be redeployed within the company.Future said in a statement,

"Despite the company's strong performance overall, unfortunately games™ and GamesMaster are no longer profitable parts of the business, which means that their next issues, on sale November 1st, will be the final editions,"

"The decision was an extremely difficult one, but everyone here is enormously proud of what the magazines have achieved in their lifetimes - an incredible 25 years in GamesMaster's case - and we are currently redeploying affected staff within the company."

GamesMaster hasn't mentioned anything online at this time of writing, however, GamesTM has Tweeted the below statement.

As someone who lives in the UK and grew up seeing copies of these magazines lying around at school, or at friends houses it's certainly a sad situation. The last issues will be published on the 1st November.
