GameStop Now Taking Pre-Orders for the 3DS; No Official Price in Sight

Forum users over at NeoGaf have been reporting that beginning on December 26th (yesterday, for those of you playing at home), GameStops around the US began taking Pre-Order reservations for the Nintendo 3DS. And from the looks of it the price may vary depending on what region of the country you live in, but one thing that is definite is that you’re not getting one without slapping down a minimum of $25 bucks, with some stores requesting as much as double that amount. If for whatever reason you go to reserve at your local GameStop and the clerk has no idea what you’re talking about, make sure to mention SKU number 020132.

The last time I had to put down $50 to reserve a something at Gamestop it was for an Xbox 360, and with the handheld in Japan costing ¥25,000 (about $298) its looking like that often speculated price of $299 will in fact become a reality. We should know some more solid information on Janurary 19th from the 3DS event in New York City, where we’ll be in attendance. Make sure to check back for more info.
