GC 2012: Capcom Reveals Stunning New IP, Remember Me, in Generous Gameplay Trailer

Every now and then, a new intellectual property is announced that looks like it’s going to be great beyond reason. While some do not pan out the ways we had hoped – The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy Versus XIII – there are others that eventually add some great ideas to the fray.

Remember Me looks to be an amalgamation of some of this generation’s both underrated and popular IPs. There are gameplay and setting elements reminiscent of Mirror’s Edge, Assassin’s Creed, Deus Ex: Human Revolution; some of it even reminded me of Watch Dogs, announced at E3 this year. The game also has elements that are similar to films such as Blade Runner and Inception.

Capcom has released the following synopsis of the game’s story, which by the way, is very reminiscent of Inception:

In Remember Me, players assume the role of Nilin, an elite memory hunter who is not only incredibly athletic and trained in martial arts, but also has the special ability to break into people’s minds and steal or even change their memories. When her own memory is erased, Nilin begins her journey to reclaim her identity and discover how she can change the world.

Remember Me will be released in May of 2013 presumably for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U(?).
