We were expecting new assets of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn from Gamescom, and Square Enix delivered, releasing today a juicy batch of new screenshots and artwork of the resurrected version of their MMORPG.

The screenshots definitely look impressive, showcasing a much richer world and a way less intrusive and console-like UI than the one we're used to. The artwork give us a nice glimpse on the new Elzen, Lalafell and Roegadyn, including the female version of the big buff race, that looks definitely on the sexy side.

As I said in the latest episode of the DualCast, I have very high hopes for the rebirth of Eorzea. The MMORPG market needs a positive story to stand out between all the doom and gloom, and there would be no story I'd like more to tell than a game that launched badly and managed to achieve success against all odds through the labor of a great development team. I always felt that, if there's one team that deserves to play the main role in such a story, it'd be the one led by Naoki Yoshida.

Call me a dreamer, or a hopeless optimist, but a man can hope.
