Just a few weeks after the Game Developers Conference postponed their event in San Fransisco, Informa Tech, the organizer of GDC, has announced that GDC Summer will be coming to the Bay Area this August.

GDC Summer will go from August 4-6 and serve as a way for developers to celebrate the business and creativity of video game development. In addition to several keynotes, fireside chats, and microtalks held throughout the show, there will be a showfloor open from August 5-6.

For developers at the show, they'll be able to apply for space onsite to host meetings in on top of the main show. Among the different meetings that can happen include non-profit board meetings, local meet-ups, reviewing portfolios, and recording podcasts.

"GDC Summer will give the game development community a chance to come together in a way that hasn’t currently been possible due to COVID-19," says Informa Tech in a press release. "Safety remains the GDC organizers’ paramount concern and the GDC team will continue to monitor the latest information from health officials to ensure a safe and compelling event for everyone at GDC Summer, GDC 2021 and beyond. Full details for GDC Summer can be viewed on the official GDC website."

In late February, GDC announced they'd be postponing their event due to the coronavirus outbreak that's impacted the world. The postponement was inevitable with publishers and developers like Kojima Productions, Microsoft, and EA pulled out of the show. GDC wasn't the only event effected by the virus, with events such as BitSummit 2020, TwitchCon Amsterdam, and E3 2020 being cancelled. That being said, Gamescom has announced they'll move forward with their event this August in Cologne, Germany.

GDC Summer will go from August 4-6 in San Fransisco at the Moscone Center. As more news about GDC and other events pop up, we'll be sure to let you know.
