In a bit of cross-series synergy, today's Inside Xbox stream revealed that Gears 5 will receive some character packs based on Halo: Reach characters. The newly-detailed Horde Mode for Gears 5 will throwback to the characters of Kat and Emile from Bungie's 2010 game, each having their own unique Ultimate ability.

Emile has access to a bubble shield ability, while Kat can send off a hologram version of herself to fool unsuspecting enemies; both abilities should be familiar as armor abilities from Halo: Reach. Hopefully, this will all coincide with the official release of Halo: Reach on The Master Chief Collection.

These characters are obtainable through the Ultimate Edition of Gears 5, which will go for $79.99. Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also be able to use the character packs. In other news, Microsoft really is overusing the word "ultimate" lately, aren't they?

The duo from Noble Team will join another crossover character, albeit a much more left-field one in characters from the upcoming film Terminator: Dark Fate like Sarah Connor. The pack will also come with a Noble Team Mark, Bloodspray, Banner, and weapon set. Be sure to check out the brief trailer for the Halo: Reach character pack below. Gears 5 will hit Xbox One and PC on September 10.
