Gears Tactics, the very first Gears game featuring turn-based strategy gameplay, is just around the corner and Microsoft has summarized the upcoming experience in a new trailer.

Originally revealed during E3 2018, Gears Tactics will finally make its way to Steam and Microsoft Store later this month. Known as the first Gears of War spin-off with a whole new gameplay system - regardless of Gears Pop - Gears Tactics is being aided in development by Splash Damage, the team behind titles such as Brink and Dirty Bomb.

As we are almost two weeks away from Gears Tactics' release, Microsoft shared the launch trailer of the game just a few hours ago, which gives you a glimpse of all of the title's aspects, especially its story. Set twelve years before the events of the first Gears of War game, in Tactics, you will be fighting with the Locust army, as expected, with a team of elite warriors. While Gabe Diaz is the main protagonist of the game, your primary mission is to wipe out the Locust soldiers and take down their leader, Ukkon. In your way to hunt down the Locust monsters, you will recruit new soldiers and train them in the way you need them.

Going over its gameplay, you will be controlling an army of four during each fight. It's on you to choose who should be at your service during the battle. With fully customizable allies, upgrading the group members and changing their loadout is the least you can expect.

Despite using an isometric camera, the game seems to feature incredibly detailed visuals both in gameplay and cutscenes.

Gears Tactics will be launched on April 28 for PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on the same day. It's worth noting that the Xbox One version of the game is set to be released later this year.
