Gears of War 4 for Xbox One and Windows 10 Might Be Released in Japan after All
Most believed that Gears of War 4 wouldn't make it to the Japanese shores, but a new trailer indicates that it might happen.
One of the most prominent Xbox One games of last year was never released in Japan. Microsoft did not launch Gears of War 4 in the country, apparently due to concerns about fitting the local CERO rating system, mentioning in previous mentions that, although previous games of the series did launch in Japan, even if heavily censiored, there simply would be too much to cut in the latest title.
Today, we got a signal showing that something may have changed. Xbox Japan suddenly published the “Tomorrow” Gears of War 4 cinematic trailer on its official channel, without any accompanying announcement or mention.
The trailer does not include a release date or window, but it does showcase a CERO Z rating, with a mention that the sale is forbidden to those under age 18, in compliance with the country’s regulations.
CERO Z is the only rating in Japan that is legally enforced, and it’s actually rather rare, with most publishers trying their best to avoid its commercial implications. It was also shared by previously published Gears of War games.
At the moment, we have no further information, but you can check out the trailer below.
