Updates have played quite a crucial role in the game’s success, with miHoYo releasing a major update every six weeks in the game. It is stated that this update schedule will go on for years, and there are no filler updates at all until the end of the year at the very least.

It’s already been a while since the 2.0 Update was released, and fans are now eager to know what the next one has to offer. We did receive some information about the upcoming update, which included the banners and other stuff. The banners will consist of Baal, Kokomi and Sara. However, there is something more interesting coming in the upcoming update, the fishing feature.

Genshin Impact 2.1 Leak Gives Tons of Details About Fishing System

The fishing system will be making its debut in the 2.1 Update which is slated to release on September 1st. Until now, we haven’t got to learn more about the feature, although its existence was confirmed. Today, a series of new leaks details the fishing system in much more depth.

As of now, there are (currently known) 20 types of fish
Each of these fish have an “ornamental” type and a
“Non-Ornamental” Type
“Ornamental” – These fish are caught and sent to the Serenitea Pot
Inventory
“Non-Ornamental” – These fish are caught are added to the
“materials” section of the Inventory
When fishing, you can differentiate the ornamental from the
non-ornamental fish (They still have the same model) since the
ornamental fish jump out of the water and are a bit more difficult to
catch
There are also (currently known) 5 types of bait
You can choose the bait before fishing and switch between the bait
while fishing
Certain bait only work on certain fish
When fishing, if you throw the line too close to the fish, the fish will
get startled and swim away
It takes around 20-30s from throwing the line to actually catching
the fish itself but the length can vary

The first leak comes from Genshin Impact laker UBatcha, and he states that there are around 20 types of fish present in the game. Each of these has two variants, which decide whether they will be sent to the Serenitea Pot Inventory or the materials section of the inventory. Ornamental fishes are more difficult to catch than the normal variants.

miHoYo has put some emphasis on baits as well, as there are various types of them, each suitable for different kinds of fish. Fishing isn’t quite straightforward in the game, and it needs a bit of skill to master it. There is a lot of information on Honey Impact as well (from where the images have been procured) which details that there will be specific places in the game known as fishing spots where the players can engage in fishing activities.

This should be a great addition to the game, which already has a lot of content in it. It’s not just a side activity as we can see, as fishes will be used for other stuff as well. It will be interesting to see the feature in action once the update rolls out.
