Drip Marketing is miHoYo revealing new characters to be released in the next Version of Genshin Impact, one Version early. With artwork and lore details. For example, miHoYo revealed Shenhe and Yun Jin for Genshin Impact 2.4 right before 2.3.
Where does miHoYo release Drip Marketing?
Drip marketing happens through Genshin official socials, on Twitter and Facebook. The Genshin accounts of all languages share the new characters. Drip Marketing usually happens two days before maintenance, on Mondays.
When did Drip Marketing start?
The Drip Marketing meme started with a tweet from the official Genshin Impact English Twitter on Monday, June 7, 2021. That was the first Drip Marketing. miHoYo announced then the 2.0 release of Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu.
Will miHoYo increase its Drip Marketing in the future?
miHoYo announced the characters and weapons for all the banners in Version 2.4. Right when pre-download went live. So miHoYo is starting to reveal more content ahead of release.
miHoYo started doing Drip Marketing to fight against leaks. Genshin Impact players want to know the release dates of future characters. So they can save their Primogems accordingly. However, if miHoYo officially announces the characters in advance, there’s no need for leaks anymore.
