Open world action JRPG with gacha elements Genshin Impact first released worldwide on September 28, 2020, and the miHoYo game celebrated its half anniversary on March 28, 2021 - now several fans are unhappy with the situation, what happened?

Genshin Impact - What's an half anniversary in gacha games?

Pretty much every gacha game does some kind of anniversary event or celebrations when reaching a six months after release milestone. Most of the time, for a limited set of time, usually one week, players are granted additional login bonuses, and some freebies of the currency used to roll the gacha.

  • LEAKS - New artifacts sets for Zhongli and Hu Tao

To give you the perfect example, Project Sekai: Colorful Stage feat. Hatsune Miku, which released on September 30, 2020, is currently celebrating its half anniversary, giving away 3500 crystals in total, and is even holding a live stream for the occasion (which I'd definitely write about if I could)

However, miHoYo has yet to announce anything for the half anniversary of Genshin Impact.

Several players are unhappy with the situation. Needless to say, the Genshin Impact community has no single shared opinion, and the English player base in particular is made of pretty young players overall. You can't get a consensus and everyone is always arguing about everything. With that said, if you look on Twitter, forums, r/genshin_impact, /gig/, or Japanese players on Twitter, you can find several fans dissatisfied with the lack of half anniversary celebrations.

Funnily, before the half anniversary date, multiple Genshin Impact players were speculating on what could miHoYo offer them for the celebrations, and most fan polls I've seen included "nothing" as one of the most voted choices. Seems like most players knew what to expect.

Will miHoYo announce some half year anniversary Primogems?

However, it's important to note miHoYo could still announce some kind of half anniversary celebrations in the next few hours or days, like a distribution of Freemogems and gifts. We'll be sure to tell you if you hear something, as soon as possible.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, mobile A switch version was also announced but has no release date.
