Genshin Impact developer miHoYo is working on a new Weapon type according to a trusty leaker.

Genshin Impact is pretty much the most popular anime game out there. As it managed to rake in an audience who might have never watched an anime before. One of the reasons for the open-world game's success is its cool characters and the weapons they wield.

Genshin Impact currently has 5 different Weapon types used by its husbandos and waifus: one-handed Swords, Claymore, Bow, Catalyst (spellcaster weapon), and Polearm. However, each character has a different and cool way in how they wield their Weapon. And now, one more Weapon type is on the way.

Genshin Impact Leaks: First details on new Weapon type leaked

Popular leaker UBatcha mentioned on November 22 that Genshin Impact developers are working on a new weapon, that would be a mix between close and long-ranged combat. With an unknown release date.

It's interesting to note that miHoYo co-founder Dawei already hinted at new weapons. He mentioned that Genshin Impact would get regular updates just like Honkai Impact 3rd, whose updates sometimes add "new ways to play". That was back in August 2020, in other words before Genshin released and back when no one cared about the game yet.

It was in the same interview where Housing, Skins, and Farming systems were first teased. All features that are now implemented. So it only makes sense that more Weapon types will be added in the long run.

New weapons predictions

Something that's both long-range and short-range could be a shuriken. A good example of how it would work would be Yuffie's usage of her giant shuriken in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. She can either strike her enemies with it or throw it like a boomerang.

Something like Chakrams would make more sense though. And it'll be less culturally tied to a single region.

Dendro element characters still aren't playable, so maybe we'll actually see some new Weapon type released soon after the Element comes around too.

Another theory would be to add twin daggers or a twin halberd like the ones Childe uses. What do you guys think and what kind of new Weapons you'd like to see in Genshin Impact? Tell us in the comments below. You can also always reach me on Twitter @A_iyane07.
