miHoYo revealed the release date for Genshin Impact, September 28. The game will be launching on iOS and Android mobile platforms, alongside PC. It's also coming to PS4 in Fall, and later on Nintendo Switch. miHoYo previously teased that the game will be launching "before October" on mobile and PC. Mission accomplished. Now that the release date has been announced, pre-registrations on the Genshin Impact official site are currently open:

Pre-registration count topped 200K accounts as I'm writing this. As usual with these type of campaigns, players will get more bonus rewards the more pre-registrations there are. The initial bonuses are consumables food items, but the higher rewards are currency for the gacha.

For further rewards, separate follow campaigns on the Genshin Impact YouTube and Facebook are also ongoing. Meanwhile, those who bring in their friends can get a chance at a raffle for some IRL goods including Amazon Gift Cards.

Genshin Impact Latest Trailer

Genshin Impact is an unique game and hard to describe in a few words. It's an Action RPG with an open-world and a full-fledged single-player experience. However, up to four players can also join up for some coop in the same world. Moreover, while the main story automatically gives you characters, more characters can be unlocked via a gacha sytem. And yet the game never feels unfair and doesn't pushes players to actively spend and seek more characters at all times. Characters and weapons are upgraded with specific materials. There's also a Stamina-like system which limits the amount of times you can run the events that grants you said materials. But simultaneously, it never feels like the game tells you when to play, and when to stop.

Overall, Genshin Impact blends in a lot of different mechanics from both mobile gacha games and single player console JRPGs, and yet manages to make everything blend in splendidly. We'll be sharing very detailed impressions on the game soon. You can read more meanwhile with our past coverage.

In related news, miHoYo is also developing a "Virtual Actress", YoYo Lumi. It's a pretty interesting project and quite unique compared to the usual VTubers. Lumi is super cute and fun (as long as you're an anime otaku though), and a dynamic desktop with her also launched. We already explained everything you need to know.
