The Private Beta Test for Genshin Impact 2.4 has started as of November 24, meaning the first kit details for Shenhe and Yun Jin have leaked.

Shenhe and Yun Jin are the two new characters to be released in Genshin Impact Version 2.4. In around a month and a half from now on. They're both highly anticipated characters seeing they were part of the first batch of data mined characters over a year ago. That was during the first Beta Tests, before the official release of Genshin Impact on September 28, 2020.

Now we have the first crumbs of details for Shenhe, who seems to be a DPS Cryo character, and Yun Jin, who's a new Shield character.

As always, all credit goes to the leakers of the WFP Discord you're familiar with and the Honey Impact database. And keep in mind everything is subject to change. November 25 Update: the full kits have been leaked and all the details below have been modified. Please go through the article one more time if you haven't yet. December 6 update: Both Shenhe and Yun Jin were slightly "buffed" (They're still work in progress characters so talking about buffs or nerfs is meaningless).

Genshin Impact 2.4 - Yun Jin Elemental Skill, Burst

Yun Jin's Elemental Skill / E is called Whirling Opener. It has a Press and a Hold version. Pressing E has Yun Jin attacking with her Polearm and dealing Geo DMG. When holding E, Yun Jin takes the Whirling Opener stance and charges up. Forming a Shield scaling with her Max HP, with 150% absorption rate toward all DMG, Physical and Elemental. When the Shield disappears, it'll deal Geo DMG that depends on how much time the Shield was charged. There's a level 1 and a level 2 charge.

Overall it seems pretty similar to Zhongli's Jade Shield, which also has 150% absorption against any type of DMG. Yun Jin's shield basically exploding at the end sounds nice.

Yun Jin's Elemental Burst is Cliffbreaker's Banner, it deals AoE Geo DMG, and applies the effect "Flying Cloud Flag Formation" to nearby party members. It increases Normal Attack DMG, scaling with Yun Jin's current DEF stat. The effect has a time limit and a limited amount of stacks that are consumed each time you hit an enemy. However, each character has an independent amount of stacks.

Yun Jin Passive Talents

Light Nourishment: 12% chance to get double the food when cooking adventure-effect related food (Stamina consumption decrease, etc).

True to Oneself: If you tap E right when Yun Jin is attacked, it'll trigger the Level 2 charge Geo DMG attack. The same thing as when her Shield breaks or disappears.

No Mere traditionalist: Increases the DMG bonus of Yun Jin's Q by the number of characters with different Elements in your party. 1/2/3/4 characters= increase by 2.5%/5%/7.5%/11.5% of Yun Jin's DEF.

So Yun-Jin has a counter-like ability. She seems really fun. And it's best to use her with 3 other different Elements in your party rather than with other Geo characters. Seems she can fit in any party comp.

Yun Jin Constellations (December 6 update)

Stylized Equestrianism: Whirling Opener's cooldown is decreased by 18%.

Myriad Mise-en-Scène: After Yun Jin uses her Elemental Burst, all nearby party members get a 15% Normal Attack DMG buff for 12s. (December 6 update).

Seafaring General: Elemental Burst level +3.

Ascend, Cloud-Hanger: Increases Yun Jin's DEf by 20% for 12s whenever she triggers Crystallize.

Famed Throughout the Land: Elemental Skill level +3.

Decorous Harmony: Characters with Flying Cloud Flag Formation has their Normal Attack speed increased by 12%.

Yun Jin is a 4-star character, meaning it's likely many F2¨P will at least get her to C1, so it's nice to see it's a CD reducer and pretty useful. (Mise-en-scène means "screenplay" in French.)

Genshin Impact 2.4 leaks - Shenhe Elemental Skill, Burst

Here are the full details for Shenhe's Kit. Her Elemental Skill is called Spring Spirit Summoning. Using it gives nearby party members the Icy Quill effect that increase all Cryo DMG based on Shenhe's current ATK. Icy Quill has a time limit and stacks. You consume 1 stack when hitting an enemy. Each character has an independent number of Icy Quill stacks. Shenhe's E also has a Press and a Hold version, and holding E will make Icy Quill last longer and get more stacks.

When pressing E, Shenhe will rush forward and deal Cryo DMG to enemies in front of her. When holding E, the Talisman Spirit will deal AoE Cryo DMG.

Shenhe's Elemental Burst is Divine Maiden's Deliverance. It deals AoE Cryo DMG and consumes the Talisman Spirit, creating a field that decreases the Cryo and Physical RES of the monsters in it. The field also deals continuous Cryo DMG.

Shenhe Passive Talents (December 6, 2021)

Precise Comings and Goings: Gains 25% more rewards in Liyue Expeditions that are longer than 20 hours.

Deific Embrace: An active character within the field created by Shenhe's Elemental Burst / Q will get a 15% Cryo DMG bonus. (On December 6, the buff was changed from 10% to 15%).

Spirit Communion Seal: Shenhe will buff party members when using her Elemental Skill / E.
Press: Increases Elemental Skill and Burst DMG by 15% for 10s. Hold: Increases Normal, Charged, Plunging Attack DMG by 15% for 15s.
If Shenhe usees her E again when the effect is still active, it'll reset the timers.

Shenhe Constellations

Clarity of Heart: Spring Spirit Summoning can be used one more time (I'm guessing this works like Sucrose's E).

Centered Spirit: Shenhe's Elemental Burst will last for 6 more seconds. Characters in the field get a 15% Cryo CRIT DMG bonus.

Seclusion: Elemental Skill level + 3.

Insight: When characters trigger Icy Quill, Shenhe will get a Skyfrost Mantra stack: When Shenhe uses her E, she will consume those stacks and deal increased DMG, 5% increase per stack. Max 50 stacks.

Divine Attainment: Elemental Burst level + 3.

Mystical Abandon: When characters trigger Icy Quill using Normal or Charged Attack DMG, they won't use up their Icy Quill stacks.

Overall impressions & comments

Overall, Shenhe seems to be a great Cryo DPS and buff. It looks like Shenhe will work really well in a party together with Ganyu. Which is cool as it links gameplay and story together seeing they're both linked to Cloud Retainer. Shenhe should also work really well with other Cryo characters.

Note that the kits of Shenhe and Yun Jin are pretty similar, both using a temporary stack buffs mechanic. Shenhe's stack buff ability is much stronger though as a 5-star character, and can be triggered much more frequently as it's on her E instead of Q.

As for Constellations, it's normal for Shenhe's Constellations to be so overpowered. Only whales paying hundreds of dollars get 5-star characters to C6. That's also why I don't believe meta and tier-list discussions should take a 5-star character's Constellations into account. Or else every character is broken anyway.

When are Shenhe and Yun Jin releasing?

Genshin impact Version 2.4 should launch on January 5, 2022. According to leakers, Shenhe will be the first banner of the update.

Again, keep in mind this is all subject to change. Shenhe and Yun Jin's kits will be strengthened or weakened as the Beta goes on. All these numbers will keep changing, so it's pointless thinking about very specific builds right now. It's unfair to call these changes "leaks" or "buffs" seeing the characters are still being tested. We'll only fully know at their official release.
