Breath of The Wild Inspired Genshin Impact to be Released on PS4; New Trailer Revealed (Updated)
Genshin Impact by MiHoyo, the developers of Honkai Impact 3rd, will release on PS4 following its original PC and mobile releases.
MiHoYo revealed that its action RPG Genshin Impact will be releasing on PS4 on top of its original PC and smartphone releases. The PS4 release announcement was made by Sony Interactive Entertainment Shanghai and MiHoYo during a PlayStation live press conference on August 1.
Genshin Impact is currently in development and is scheduled to launch on PC and mobile in Spring 2020. A beta test was already held a few weeks ago. As such, you can find multiple gameplay videos on YouTube from the beta. The PS4 version of Genshin Impact will launch later than the PC and mobile versions.
Genshin Impact was announced back in June 2019 with a first trailer. Before being a game, Genshin Impact initially started as a manga launched in mid-2018.
Genshin Impact also sparked controversy for being too inspired from Zelda Breath of the Wild. Nothing in particular stemmed from it though and Nintendo didn’t comment on the matter. The game also has plenty of differences compared to Breath of the Wild, judging from the beta gameplay. And the project initially started as a manga, something that has even less to do with Breath of the Wild, with a completely different story.
In any case, we’ll be able to judge the game for what its worth when it releases next Spring. The manga is pretty interesting so I’m personally looking forward to it. The previous game by MiHoYO, Honkai Impact 3rd, isn’t bad either.
Update: MiHoYo also published a new Genshin Impact trailer with new gameplay, introduced by playable character Amber.
