Geoff Keighley Warns Against “Record Number” of Fake E3 Game Reveals and Rumors

Gametrailers host Geoff Keghley is definitely one of the best connected game journalists out there, and today he took to Twitter to give everyone a warning about the hype train we’re seeing about E3:

Fair warning: A record number of fake E3 game reveals and rumors are floating out there.

That’s not too surprising, considering that this show is going to see a titanic clash between Xbox One and PS4 games.

The hype is through the roof and many are taking advantage of that. Just yesterday night we received a false picture of a tweet attributed to Sony Asia Region Marketing Manager Naito Arata allegedly unveiling The Last Guardian‘s E3 presence that we decided not to publish, and we’ve seen all kinds of “documents” detailing Uncharted 4‘s presentation or the line-ups of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all conveniently bunched in a single list. If only it was that easy…

It’s doubtless that some reveals may actually prove true either by chance or because they come from a legit source, but the lesson is always the same: take anything that doesn’t come directly from the publisher with a sizable grain of salt (and yes, this includes those you might happen to read here).
