Today Ninendo revealed a special promotion for those who purchase the deluxe edition of their new console, the Wii U, come November 18th. This promotion applies to anyone who has a deluxe edition console and who purchases anything from the Wii U eShop from November 18, 2012, until December 31, 2014. That's right, over two years down the road.

It seems you'll get 10% back on your purchases on the Wii U eShop to use on either that store or purchases on the 3DS eShop, and this return will be gifted to you in the form of points to buy more digital games. You'll also receive a $5 credit code for every 500 points you spend, also usable on either of the eShops.

According to Nintendo of America's executive VP of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt, "From day one, we want Wii U owners to experience the full breadth of great downloadable games and content available for the console. The Deluxe Digital Promotion is our way of encouraging Wii U Deluxe Set owners to explore the Nintendo eShop and discover how Wii U offers an incredible combination of fun, innovation, convenience and value."

I get it that they want to promote the more expensive SKU of the console, however, wouldn't it be prudent to just offer this promotion to everyone? Wouldn't that spur more sales in the long run? But, I digress. So, we know there is a pretty hefty eShop for the Wii U and the 3DS...yet we still don't know much about how Nintendo's online service will work on the Wii U. Thumbs up!
