A month to the date after first releasing, Sucker Punch today announced that Ghost of Tsushima is set to receive a sizable new update later this year that will add a game mode you might not initially have expected.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a new co-op multiplayer game mode that allows you to takes on legendary enemy types with your friends. Legends, which will be made available entirely for free, lets up to four players take part on a single team with each player being able to utilize one of four different classes: Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin. Each class has its own special abilities that logically sets it apart from the others.

Legends will also boast co-op story missions as well which will let you take on a variety of different enemy types. Unlike the campaign, Sucker Punch has said it has designed Ghost of Tsushima: Legends to focus on myths from Japanese culture. This means that beings with "supernatural" abilities, such as the Oni, will be some of the foes you might take on.

If you have a full squad of four players, you'll also be able to try out Legends' take on horde mode. The game type, simply called Survival, will let you do battle with increasing waves of enemies. Sucker Punch says that those who complete all of the story and survival missions available in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will then be able to take part in a Raid. This Raid, however, won't be available right at the launch of Legends and will instead be coming a bit later on.

All in all, it's definitely surprising to see a game mode like this coming to Ghost of Tsushima, but it also looks to be quite fun. You can get your first look at Legends in the trailer attached above.
