Following an appearance on the Gamerheads Podcast, Jordan Mychal Lemos, a writer at Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch, has denied knowledge of a sequel to The Order: 1886.In the now-deleted segment of the podcast, Lemos stated that "everyone should play The Order: 1886. Especially since, I guess they're making a sequel. I don't know if it's The Order 1887; the last I heard, yeah, they were actually doing a second one."Following the podcast, some Reddit threads, and other outlets reporting on Lemos' comments. Lemos took to Twitter to clarify his comments from the podcast.

The Order: 1886 launched on February 20, 2015, to mixed reviews, with a Metacritic score of 63. Additionally, the game has had steady sales numbers over the years. Currently, The Order: 1886 developer Ready at Dawn his hiring for a AAA title, but it doesn't sound like a sequel to the game due to their career page stating that they're developing an original IP. With its unique Victorian setting and impressive visuals, a sequel to The Order: 1886 would be interesting in that it could further explore the world the series is set in and build upon its gameplay.

In honor of its fourth anniversary, Ready at Dawn released a series of behind the scenes videos from The Order: 1886's development. Outside of AAA games, Ready at Dawn has been developing VR titles such as Lone Echo II and Echo Arena, which were shown off at E3 2019. While there's no specific release date, Lone Echo II launches in early 2020 on Oculus Rift.

The Order: 1886 is available now on PlayStation 4.
