In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, players are tasked with the obvious burden of busting ghosts. This is a difficult job that often requires a team of Ghostbusters, all working together, just to take down a single ghostly entity. A key to taking down these slimy spirits is to come equipped with the correct tools for the job.

The Ghostbusters franchise has some pretty iconic ghost-catching weaponry, and players get to give them a go in Spirits Unleashed. What's just as important as having the correct weapons is making sure the weapons are upgraded to the best of their ability.

How To Level Up Fast

Leveling up doesn't work as simply as you might expect in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. Players will have different levels for different aspects of the game. The divide most noticeably happens between a player's character level and the player's gear level. These two meters fill up at different paces and for different reasons, but both levels play a role in the unlockables and upgrades that players have access to.

How To Increased Character Level In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

The character level will increase much faster than the gear level. For this reason, players may not need to focus as much on this aspect of the leveling process since it tends to come more naturally. There are a few different ways that you can expedite the process of leveling up your character level though.

Complete Side Hustles

Players can complete jobs called Side Hustles. These quests will give players the opportunity to gain a large amount of XP to increase their character level. A huge bonus to completing Side Hustles is that they will also occasionally reward players with customization items that they can equip to their Ghostbuster at the lockers in the firehouse. Side Hustles can be found in the firehouse, next to the desk where players first meet Catt. Side Hustles aren't necessarily missions that players go on, but rather objectives for players to complete while on a job. Players need to choose a Side Hustle to be active when they go on a job, and that Side Hustle is the only one that can be progressed until another one is made active. Only one Side Hustle can be activated at a given time.

Face Off Against Bots

Players don't have to play the game with other people. There can be a real skill curve at first, and playing with other human players may cause you to lose more than a few rounds. Players have the ability to go into a game against computer players. Whether you're a Ghostbuster or a mischievous ghost, having AI opponents can make things a bit easier. Players will still, thankfully, accumulate experience toward their character level while playing against computers, so this can be a great way to get an extra boost.

Collect Fungi And Clippings

When playing as a Ghostbuster, players can find collectible Fungi dotted around the map, as well as the occasional Clipping. These are extremely easy to come by when you really look for them and they can give you a huge boost in XP-gain at the end of a round. With these being found all over the map, players can easily seek these out while still focusing on the task at hand as well.

How To Increase Gear Level In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

Ghostbusters-Spirits-Unleashed-Gear-Customization-1

Gear levels are independent of character level in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. The best, and only, way to level up a specific piece of gear is to simply use it. The more players use a piece of gear while on a job, the more it will level up. Gear level is much more difficult to increase compared to character level. This is because players will likely not use every piece of gear in every job they go on. This means that some gear will level up faster than others and, unless players make a concerted effort, some gear pieces might not level up at all after a job is completed.

Complete Research Contracts

One of the few sure-fire ways to increase gear level, especially for a specific piece, is to complete Research Contracts. These work similarly to Side Hustles but will allow players to increase gear levels by completing certain tasks. The Research Contracts can be found in Eddy's Lab on the upper floor of the firehouse. These Contracts can only be started once players reach character level 20, when they will gain access to the Research Contract interface.

Use The Gear You Want To Level Up

Players won't be able to see the amount of progress made on a specific piece of gear's level after completing a job, but just trust that its level is increasing. Using the gear you want to level-up is the best way to gain XP for that item and unlock the many upgradable components for each weapon.
