There's no reason to wait for Cyberpunk 2077 if you're in need of some technologically advanced action with a tinge of doom and gloom. Ghostrunner, the game that puts you in the shoes of a cyber-ninja is coming out soon and has just dropped a new trailer announcing a release date this October.

If you're not familiar with it, Ghostrunner is a fast-paced hack n' slash title that gives players control of a technologically augmented ninja. Does it get any more cyberpunk-y? Based on fast movement and one-hit kills, Ghostrunner will be challenging its players to find that perfect route through a level and execute it flawlessly.

Today's trailer shows off some of the obstacles the cyber-ninja will be facing. Throughout the neon-lit landscapes are enemy ninjas, futuristic soldiers armed with laser-blasting guns, robots and of course ominous, oppressive architecture that spews deadly beams. Naturally, you'll have to climb those buildings, although that shouldn't be too hard. Movement in the game pays homage to Mirror's Edge - you'll be wall running and wall jumping across the cityscape just to get around, while combat emphasizes quick dashes and blade rushes to take down enemies cleanly.

If you're curious about Ghostrunner and want to try your hand at it, you only have to wait until the end of the month. Co-publishers 505 Games and All in! Games are putting together a private beta that you can sign up for here. If you want to avoid the chance of not getting picked, the game will also be releasing a demo on Steam September 29.

Ghostrunner is set to release on October 27 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Pre-orders for the game are only live on the PlayStation Store so far; the game's page on Steam only has the option to add it to your wishlist and no store page for it exists on the Microsoft Store. That being said, pre-orders for other platforms should be going live soon.
