PlayStation, Tango Gameworks and Bethesda held a gameplay showcase for Ghostwire: Tokyo on February 3, most notably revealing pre-order details for the game.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was first revealed at E3 2019 by Shinji Mikami and Ikumi Nakamura.

Shinji Mikami joined Capcom in 1990 and most notably worked on Disney games for Super Nintendo such as Aladdin, which was vastly inferior than the Megadrive Aladdin by Virgin. However, Shinji Mikami later became one of the main creators of the Resident Evil series, one of the co-founders of PlatinumGames, and ended up making another studio, Tango Gameworks, which is known for The Evil Within series.

On the other hand, Ikumi Nakamura worked at Tango Gameworks for nine years, and became an internet meme after Ghostwire: Tokyo's announcement. Now, the game will finally be released on PlayStation 5 and PC (Epic and Steam) on March 25, 2022. The game is a PS5 one-year exclusive as specified on the showcase. Several editions are available for pre-order.
