Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure is an upcoming old-school adventure game from the team at Stuck in Attic. The game was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2016 and will be the first big release for the fledgling studio. Today, the team has put out a brand new trailer that reveals the game's August 7 release date. Give it a watch below.

Gibbous tells the tale of Buzz Kerwan, a humble librarian who stumbles upon the ancient Necronomicon. When he brings it home from work, he accidentally uses it on his cat, Kitteh, and gives it the power of speech. Joining these two on their adventure is a local private eye Don R. Ketype who is on a mission to retrieve the evil book.

During the course of the adventure, you'll play as all three characters in gameplay that's inspired by the many great adventure games of yore. The team at Stuck in Attic has an extensive background in animation and it shows in all of the stunning screens and trailers they have shown thus far. If you're into the style of the old Sierra or LucasArts adventure games, this looks to be exactly your jam. Gibbous takes a similar style and updates it well for 2019.

I'll be interested to see how well the game's humor hits. Comedy is tough to do in video games, but adventure games have often been the easiest places to make it work. The game is obviously going for a hilarious story and I'm hopeful that they can pull it off.

Fortunately, we'll know soon as Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure comes to PC on August 7. Stay with DualShockers for all your indie game news.
