The annual awards season is in full swing and is infiltrating just about every aspect of media. The Games Awards went off without a hitch recently, and movie-goers have just received word on which flicks will be duking it out for an Oscar later this year. But that's not all because the GLAAD Media Awards is also just around the corner.Celebrating its 30th year, the GLAAD Media Awards focuses on positive portrayals of LGBT+ characters and storylines within movies, comics, TV, documentaries, and many other forms of media. It was announced last September that the ceremony would be introducing a video game category for the first time in its long history.More recently, the official lineup on nominees for Outstanding Video Game was unveiled on GLAAD's official website sporting some heavy hitters. The category sees five games included which span from AAA titles to mobile games.Leading the charge is Ubisoft's critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Bethesda is also represented with the addition of The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset. Electronic Arts' The Sims Mobile makes an appearance alongside Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.The winner of the first ever Outstanding Video Game category will be revealed at the GLAAD Awards which takes place on March 28, 2019, in The Beverly Hilton which is located in Beverly Hills, California.
