Global Game Jam 2014’s Keynote Presentation Video Discusses “What Makes Games Great”
After running all through this past weekend and collecting both professional and aspiring game developers from around the world, Global Game Jam 2014 is looking to share some of its wisdom with the rest of the world in its latest video.
Released on the official YouTube channel for Global Game Jam, the organization published its keynote presentation from this weekend’s festivities, as the panel behind the keynote featured Richard Lemarchand (Lead Designer, Naughty Dog), Kaho Abe (Game Designer), Jenova Chen (President/Creative Director, thatgamecompany) speaking on the practices behind game jams, and game development in general.
Speaking on what makes events like the Global Game Jam unique, Lemarchand mentioned that it is the goal of developers to innovate and find “something entirely new, a style that we’ve never seen before,” also mentioning that “experimental game design is at the heart of what makes games great.”
Global Game Jam ran this past weekend from January 24th-26th in a variety of locations – you can watch the full keynote presentation from Global Game Jam below:
