In a recent behind-the-scenes featurette published by Treyarch for their upcoming game, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, gamers were able to get an inside look at the process and influences related to both the game’s script and score.
David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel), scribe of the previous Call of Duty: Black Ops, has returned to pen the script for the upcoming sequel. He described his desire to infuse the story with more sophistication, and said very cavalierly that he believes that the upcoming shooter could possibly contend with recently released films in terms of quality.
Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails and composer of The Social Network), who views video games as a, “true art form,” noted the increased intensity of video games and their scores in recent years. Mark Lamia, studio head of Treyarch, remarked that gamers will be able to recognize Reznor’s score the instant they start the game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U on November 13th, 2012. You can view the featurette below.
