It isn't every day you see a Japanese-style visual novel developed by MangaGamer with the West in mind, but we have that in a title called Go! Go! Nippon. This, however, isn't your run of the mill visual novel. Instead of being developed for the Japanese crowd, this one is targeted at a Western audience and seems to act as sort of a "guidebook" to Japanese culture, cuisine and everyday life.

You take on the role of a university student from abroad who is visiting Japan. You stay with a couple of twin sisters and, during the week you're in Japan, they will act as your guides to show you around the country. I'm not entirely sure if this is developed specifically as a guide to Japan, or if it's a visual novel with a story based around a character visiting Japan. Either way, the interesting thing to take away from all this is that there is a visual novel being developed for a Western audience, which happens about as often as new consoles are released. In other words, not too terribly often. I would put my money where my mouth is and buy it on principle alone if it would help bring more of this style of games to the U.S.
