Goblins vs Gnomes Expansion Announced for Hearthstone; Android Version Launching Next Month

November 7, 2014

Blizzard Entertainment announced at BlizzCon today plans for the first expansion to their popular digital CCG, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, called Goblins vs Gnomes. The new expansion will add over 120 new goblin and gnome inspired cards to their collections.

Goblins vs Gnomes digs deep into the  rivalry between goblin and gnomes and their engineering ways. Though these tiny-tinkerers may be brilliant, they can sometimes create unstable and uncontrollable concoctions. This will lead to lots of new wacky and mechanical cards being added to the game. You can see this already in bonkers cards like the Annoy-o-Tron with its two mana cost for a 1/2 card that has Taunt and Divine Shield or the two mana Explosive Sheep that has a Deathrattle ability that deals two damage to all minions on the field.

Goblins vs Gnomes is going to turn Hearthstone on its head,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard Entertainment in an official statement. “It introduces a ton of new cards with all-new options for decks and strategies, and we can’t wait to see all the crazy combinations players come up with.”

The expansion will be available this December on PC, iPad and Android, as Hearthstone finally debuts on Google’s mobile platform next month. Goblins vs Gnomes card packs will be available for winning in the game’s Arena mode and purchasable with in-game currency or real money. You can watch the announcement trailer  and get a sneak peek at nine of the new cards coming soon to the game below.
