God of War Wins Game of the Year at the 2019 DICE Awards

God of War has won itself yet another Game of the Year honor, this time at the DICE Awards.

February 14, 2019

The accolades just keep pouring in for Sony’s 2018 release of God of War, with the game this time netting yet another Game of the Year award.

During last night’s 2019 iteration of the DICE Awards, the annual awards show hosted by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, Santa Monica Studios and God of War were the night’s biggest winners. God of War nearly swept every category that it was nominated for on the night and in total took home top honors in nine different categories which included best art direction, best soundtrack, and best character (for Kratos), among others. Most importantly though, God of War also won the night’s biggest award which is that of Game of the Year. It beat out other nominees Into the BreachMarvel’s Spider-ManReturn of the Obra Dinn, and Red Dead Redemption 2 in this final category.

This DICE honor marks just another one of the many Game of the Year awards that God of War has won in recent months. Back in December, God of War also won the top prize at The Game Awards before later also snagging the same prize at The New York Video Game Awards. Perhaps most prestigious of all though, God of War also won our own 2018 Game of the Year award here at DualShockers as well. God of War is also up for the same prize next month at the GDC Awards as well, so we’ll see if it can make a clean sweep there, too.

If you can’t tell, this God of War game is pretty good and you should probably check it out if you haven’t already. As it stands, God of War is currently my favorite game of this generation and I’m eagerly awaiting the inevitable sequel from Santa Monica Studios. While we likely won’t see that game for quite some time, I’m still looking forward to getting my hands on it one day.

God of War is available now exclusively for the PS4.
