God of War Will Be Getting a New Game+ Mode [UPDATE]

During Sony's E3 2018 presentation, Shawn Layden confirmed that a New Game+ feature is in the works for God of War from Santa Monica Studio.

Released just two months ago, God of War earned critical acclaim and commercial success thanks to reinvention of the series, and now it appears we’ll get at least one new feature coming to the game in the near future.

During Sony’s E3 2018 press conference, Sony’s Shawn Layden detailed a bit more on what to expect from future content coming to God of War.

Specifically, when asked about the prospects of a New Game+ feature, Layden confirmed that Santa Monica Studio is at work on the mode after getting numerous fan requests. More details on the mode will be coming later tonight, so stay tuned.

God of War is available now exclusively on PS4.

[UPDATE] As promised, Sony detailed over on the PlayStation Blog what to expect from God of War‘s New Game+ mode, along with sharing some images.

Specifically, New Game+ will, as expected, allow players to carry over their progression and bring all their earned weapons, skills, and armor over into a new game playthrough. However, Sony did say that New Game+ will provide a higher difficulty to not make it a complete cakewalk.

No specific release date was detailed yet for the release of New Game+, but Sony stated that it will be made available in an update “at a later date.” In the meantime, you can check out some new images from New Game+ below:
