God of War Ragnarok fans were quite elated to finally get a release date for the title yesterday, but there is still something many are quite unhappy with.

God of War Ragnarok was slated to release last year itself, but it was eventually delayed to 2022. Since then, Sony had been quite silent about the game, which made many fans impatient about the game. Rumors were afloat that the game will get delayed, but the developers reiterated that it is still slated to release this year itself. After a long wait, Sony finally announced yesterday that God of War Ragnarok will be released in November this year itself.

Along with that, the various editions of the game were also revealed, which included some flashy bundles. When players get the priciest bundles, they will be getting an array of goodies, including Thor's hammer, all of which come in a fancy Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine. There is a Steelbook as well, but the most important thing is still missing from the bundle — the physical disc.

Yes, you read that right, even the priciest bundle of God of War Ragnarok doesn't include the physical disc, which is quite a bummer considering that ideally, it should be there. That doesn't mean you will not get the game with the bundle, you will still be getting a download code for God of War: Ragnarok, but if you are looking to add a disc to your collection, you are in for some disappointment. The fact that a Steelbook is present but it doesn't come with a disc is something that doesn't add up too.

This is not the first time a developer has omitted the physical disc from the Collector's Edition of the game. We have seen a number of such instances in the past, and the reception to it has never been great. Fans are quite angry over this, and many lashed out at the developer for not including it. A few, on the other hand, despite expressing their disapproval towards it, added that the future of gaming is digital-only so it does make some sense for them to omit physical discs.

While digital might undoubtedly be the future of gaming, discs hold a different value to enthusiasts, and it is considered more of a collectible these days. Considering that Collector's Editions are designed for enthusiasts, to begin with, it is quite counter-intuitive to omit physical discs.
