God of War Ragnarok is less than a week away from its worldwide launch, and recently the developer shared more details on graphics options that you will get to choose from for this anticipated experience. Ragnarok will offer different graphics modes on PS4 Pro as well as PS5.

As spotted by VGC, the PS5 graphics modes are divided into two Performance and Quality categories, but each one includes three different options. Santa Monica Studios guarantees a 60 FPS experience in Performance mode in 4K resolution, but your frame rate can reach even higher if you prefer lower resolution over 4K and use an HDMI 2.1 cable with Variable Refresh Rate enabled. Below, you can check out the different graphics options in detail for PS4 and PS5.

PS5:

  • Favor Performance:
    • Resolution: 1440p - 2160p
    • Frame Rate: 60 FPS Target
  • Favor Performance + High Frame Rate:
    • Resolution: 1440p
    • Frame Rate: Unlocked 60 FPS
  • Favor Performance + High Frame Rate + Variable Refresh Rate:
    • Resolution: 1440p
    • Frame Rate: Unlocked 60 FPS
  • Favor Quality:
    • Resolution: Native 4K (2160p)
    • Frame Rate: 30 FPS Target
  • Favor Quality + High Frame Rate:
    • Resolution: 1800p - 2160p
    • Frame Rate: 40 FPS Target
  • Favor Quality + High Frame Rate + Variable Refresh Rate:
    • Resolution: 1800p - 2160p
    • Frame Rate: Unlocked 40 FPS

PS4 Pro:

  • Favor Performance:
    • Resolution: 1080p - 1656p
    • Frame Rate: Unlocked 30 FPS
  • Favor Quality:
    • Resolution: 1440p - 1656p
    • Frame Rate: 30 FPS Target

It's worth noting that the standard PS4 will only be able to run the game in 1080p resolution targeting 30 FPS. Also, keep in mind that for using the High Frame Rate options your TV should be capable of supporting HDMI 2.1. Variable Refresh Rate can be enabled through the PS5 settings if you still haven't adjusted it yet.

Overall, it seems quite promising that Santa Monica is trying to push beyond 40 FPS in 4K resolution, but it remains unknown how the game will perform after its official launch. Next to Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok seems to become one of the most visually advanced titles of PS5 so far that would use the full capabilities of the consoles.
